In managing the worldwide, consumer-focused evolution of the MasterCard brand, Lawrence P. Flanagan uses brand advertising, digital marketing, sponsorship properties, promotional usage programs, global marketing intelligence and other initiatives in a strategic, integrated marketing approach. He also was responsible for the company's famed Priceless® advertising campaign, which airs in more than 110 countries worldwide and has earned numerous awards and honors, including a Gold Effie, an Addy Award and The Cresta.
Prior to becoming chief marketing officer, Flanagan also held the positions of senior vice president of North America Marketing and vice president of U.S. Advertising at MasterCard Worldwide. Before joining MasterCard in 1996, Flanagan worked as marketing director for Procter & Gamble from 1986 to 1994, and then as assistant vice president of marketing for L'Oreal U.S.A.
He is a member of Mastercard's Worldwide Executive Management Committee, national co-chair of the CMO (Chief Marketing Officer) Summit and board director of the Ad Council. In 2004, SportsBusiness International recognized him as one of the "25 Most Influential People in Sports." In 2008, the Ad Club named him "Person of the Year."
Flanagan graduated from UNH in 1980 with a bachelor's degree in Marketing, was the University's Bartels Fellow speaker in 2009 and is a member of the University's Board of Governors.
