Thank You For Your Support and Making the 26th Annual Alumni Scholarship Ball a Big Success

The University of New Haven Alumni Association gratefully acknowledges our Lead Sponsor:

University of New Haven Scholarship Ball

Even during the country’s tough economic times, almost half a million dollars was raised from alumni and friends at UNH’s Annual Scholarship Ball this past Saturday – $150,000 more than at the 2008 event. In just 30 minutes, more than $200,000 of the total was raised during the event’s "Fund a Future" live auction.

The totals will increase the size and number of scholarships available to students, said President Kaplan. "I am thrilled at the outpouring of support that will offer a greater number of students the opportunity to attend the University, and will provide greater support to those who have chosen to pursue a University of New Haven education."

Isabella E. Dodds, University Board of Governors member emerita, received the President's Award, given to honor a University supporter who has gone above and beyond the call to help UNH students succeed.

Distinguished alumni honored at the event were University Board of Governors members Kenneth W. Biermacher, Esq. ’76 B.S., Criminal Justice, director of Kane Russell Coleman & Logan PC and Heidi S. Douglas ’82 M.S., Computer and Information Science, partner, Nuventus LLC; and inventor Joel S. Douglas ’82 M.S., Computer and Information Science, chief technology officer at MysticMD Inc. and eGen, LLC and John R. Gehring ’52 A.S., Business, retired owner/president, Gehring Office Equipment.

Over the past 26 years, the Ball has raised nearly $2.5 million for scholarships. The lead sponsor of this year’s Ball was Dimeo Construction . Serving as master of ceremonies was Michael Morris, Ph.D., professor of Psychology and coordinator of the Master's Community Psychology Program at UNH. Barry Cherwin, of Cherwin and Cherwin Auctioneers, served as the live auctioneer.
