Fire Science and Paramedicine Open House

Saturday, November 4, 2017

The University of New Haven provides a unique on-campus visit opportunity for students interested in our Fire Science and Paramedicine program.

Why Paramedicine at the University of New Haven?

Our programs exceed all Department of Transportation (DOT) National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) National Standard Curriculum and National Education Standard’s objectives and include optional skills adopted by many states. We practice evidence driven medical practice and education. The paramedicine degree is directed toward students who take responsibility for their own education, growth, and development, and especially for the professional behavior and attitude necessary for the practitioners and leaders of EMS in the future. Upon completion, students will be eligible to sit for the National Registry Paramedic exam.

Why Fire Science at the University of New Haven?

To the civilian, fighting fires means turning the hose on them.  But vanquishing the raging beast that is a fire involves much more than that.  It takes considerable strategy, expert technique, an understanding of the science that governs it, plus a firm handle on how to prevent the beast from roaring forth in the first place.  Battling fire is a science, requiring a special breed of soldier — compassionate, fast thinking, calm under pressure, and of great physical stamina.  If you are that soldier, you can do no better than to get your degree at the University of New Haven, home of one of the largest, most comprehensive fire programs in the country.
