Hands-on Program

Students in the environmental science program at the University of New Haven gain an active learning experience in the field right from the start of their college career. Our location along the Connecticut shoreline provides students with the unique opportunity to conduct field work in our very own 5-acre salt marsh along with surrounding inland wetlands, lakes, and streams. You won't just sit in a traditional classroom and comb through a textbook. You will focus heavily on problem-solution assignments with real-world experience.

Research Opportunities

Through faculty-mentored research, our undergraduate students are able to supplement their studies in areas such as geo-spatial technologies, landscape ecology, groundwater geology, and hydrology. Our students have access to fully-equipped laboratories that provide the resources for studying geographic investigation and watershed research. Having a strong background in the sciences along with field work and research will provide you with one of the best educations in environmental science anywhere!

Successful Career Placement

Our graduates are ready for not only a well-established career, but for a career they have fostered a passion for. Beyond the experiential education that we provide, students participate in regional and national conferences and constantly meet professionals from the field through our faculty-sponsored Speaker Series. Some of the many companies and organizations that have employed our Environmental Science alumni include United Technologies, U.S. Geological Survey, and the Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection.
