I was born in Luanda, Angola, lived in Cabo Verde Islands for a few years then moved to Portugal. I’ve been in the US for over 26 years. I’m married with 3 daughters and we are a University of New Haven family. I started my college career in Portugal and graduated from the University of New Haven with my AS in Business Management, then went on to receive my BA in Liberal Studies. My husband studied here, my oldest and youngest daughters are currently attending, and my middle one graduated with her BS in Business Management and is pursuing her MBA at the University of Tampa. As you can see higher education is something that runs in the family and I advise everyone I meet to continue their studies. My name is Ligia Correia, that’s the short version; you will have to ask me for the full version! I’ve been working at the University of New Haven for over 16 years. This position is new to me, but I have worked in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions for all of those 16 years I’ve been here and have an amazing relationship with everyone in the office. I will be responsible for Part-Time applicants and High-School students in the area that are interested in taking a course at the University of New Haven.
I speak a few languages; Portuguese, Spanish, French, Caboverdean Créole - I do need a refresher on my Italian. I have a passion for art and helping people achieve their objectives. I also have a weak spot for technology and all the new applications and how much it has grown in the past 15 – 20 years.
I’m looking forward to meeting more people and helping the part-time students currently attending and all future students. I wish to make your pursuit of a degree as easy and painless as possible and to ensure that you achieve your goal.
