Pre-Collegiate Student Opportunities

Our pre-college programs allow outstanding juniors and seniors the opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school.

College Before College (CBC)

Open to New Haven County Area High Schools

The College Before College partnership program offers motivated juniors and seniors a jumpstart on their college career. Students who are selected for this program will take one college course on the University of New Haven campus with University faculty and staff. Students are awarded a College Before College scholarship to cover tuition costs but are required to purchase books and cover lab fees for their respective course.

Students interested in taking part in the College Before College Program must be nominated by their school counselors. Applications and teacher recommendation forms will be reviewed by the University of New Haven Office of Undergraduate Admissions staff. Applicants are required to participate in a one-on-one interview. Students interested in applying to the program must have a minimum high school GPA of a 3.0 and a 1000 SAT/PSAT.

Outstanding High School Senior Program

Open to New Haven County Area High Schools

The Outstanding High School Senior Program gives high school seniors who are excelling academically the opportunity to gain college credit while still technically being a high school student during the spring semester of their final high school year. Students become immersed in college life as they fulfill their high school graduation requirements through University of New Haven college courses. Students will earn college credit for the University courses they are enrolled in. Students typically enroll in four classes at the University and are considered full-time students.

To apply, students MUST be recommended by their school counselor and have a minimum 3.5 GPA. Applicants must have four or fewer required courses remaining to fulfill their high school graduation requirement.
