Environmental Science
A student who enters the Environmental Science program at UNH will establish a solid background in the biological and earth sciences, chemistry, physics, and mathematics. During senior year, the student will concentrate on advanced environmental science courses. The program will enable the student to enter a graduate or specialty school to continue his or her education. At UNH, Environmental Science majors are exposed to career possibilities in organizations such as industry and government agencies, consulting firms, conservation and advocacy groups, law firms, insurance companies and educational institutions. Graduates have been successful in pursuing careers with organizations like Nature Conservancy, United Technologies and U.S. Geological Survey. The Nature Conservancy recognizes UNH's contributions to the development of a Geographic Information System to support efforts for managing the lower Connecticut River. Furthermore, the Environmental Science program has earned recognition for assisting various area environmental groups in addressing environmental problems and issues as part of the UNH hands-on approach to education. The students have won prestigious national fellowships for study abroad and scholarships from external organizations.
