English
The UNH English Department offers concentrations in either literature or writing, opening up many opportunities for the student. With a degree in English literature, the student will not only develop analytical skills and critical ability, but improve his or her thinking, writing, and speaking. A student majoring in English writing will learn a variety of writing techniques, whether it be a business letter or a journalistic essay. Students may also have the options of pursuing a teaching certificate for English or declaring either English or Black Studies as a minor. The English faculty is a diverse group of people dedicated to individual attention and to the improvement of the student's analytical and language skills. The specializations of the faculty include poetry, American literature, women's studies and contemporary fiction. Students are encouraged to study a modern language, as well as take part in the Literary Club. An advisor from the department oversees the club's annual literary magazine, The Elm City Review. The magazine is filled with student's writing and art, and is edited and published by the students. Click here for a complete list of required courses for the English major. |
