Dental Hygiene
A student pursuing a bachelor of science degree for Dental Hygiene at UNH will not only study the core curriculum and pre-requisite sciences, but will be involved in hands-on dental course work for all four years of the program. The program focuses on classroom learning but also brings students directly into the clinic. Once graduated, the student will be ready for career placement in a private dental office and even other health care settings such as nursing homes, hospitals or correctional facilities. After just three years in the program, the student has the option to exit and earn an associate in science degree. Graduates will be prepared for necessary board examinations and employment in the dental office setting. Dental Hygiene at UNH is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association. All dental hygiene students are provided with application materials for the Dental Hygiene National Board Examination and the Northeast Regional Board Examination. Both examinations are required to apply for a dental hygiene license in Connecticut and most other states. Click here for a complete list of required courses for the Dental Hygiene major. |
