Communication

The UNH Communication program offers a unique study in the fields of television, radio, film, journalism, public relations and interpersonal and corporate communication. Students who enter into the program will develop a comprehensive understanding of many aspects of communication. The curriculum blends theoretical concepts and skills, academic rigor, and hands-on experience. Alumni have been placed at leading media organizations including ESPN, CNN, MTV, Lifetime TV and ABC.

The Communication Department offers certificates in Journalism and Mass Communication. The Journalism Certificate may supplement students' experience or prepare them for other areas in their current field; basic journalism skills are provided in both print and broadcast media. The Mass Communication certificate offers options in television production, radio production, writing for the media, interpersonal communication or a combination of radio/television and film.

As part of the experience, students with a 3.0 cumulative G.P.A. and a 3.25 G.P.A. in communication courses may enter the Beta Kappa Chapter of Lambda Pi Eta, the national communication honor society. Members of the society will become part of a national network of communication majors and may showcase their work at regional and national conferences. Furthermore, students may write for the Charger Bulletin (the campus student newspaper) or work on WNHU (the campus radio station).
