Chemistry
A B.A. in Chemistry is offered through the College of Arts and Sciences, while a B.S. and A.S. in Chemistry are offered through the Tagliatela College of Engineering. The programs emphasize hands-on experience with modern chemical instrumentation. UNH graduates with a Chemistry degree are employed at crime labs and government agencies, major pharmaceutical firms, chemical companies, and academic research labs. A dual major in Chemistry and Forensic Science are common and make a student even more employable because of a sound chemistry background and interdisciplinary experience. All courses in Chemistry are taught by faculty members; the full-time faculty members are comprised of four PhD chemists and three PhD chemical engineers. The faculty work with students in the newly-renovated laboratories to provide a professional atmosphere for learning. Also available to students is The Forensic Science and Chemistry Club, a Student Affiliate Chapter of the American Chemical Society (ACS). Club activities include field trips, community and university service projects, films, group discussions and social activities. The UNH Chapter of the ACS has achieved national recognition over the last several years. The B.A. or the B.S. in Chemistry are good choices for a student looking to teach at a secondary level.
