Chemistry
The Chemistry & Chemical Engineering Department offers both B.S. and B.A. degrees in Chemistry, as well as a Chemistry minor. Most Chemistry students currently opt for the B.S. degree, while the B.A. option has extra flexibility built in for students interested in pursuing options such as pre-medical/health, secondary education, or dual majors. Both the B.S. and B.A. programs include a thorough Chemistry curriculum that emphasizes hands-on experience with modern chemical instrumentation. UNH graduates with a Chemistry degree are well-suited to attend graduate school, or to seek employment at crime labs, government agencies, major pharmaceutical firms, chemical companies, and academic research labs. Chemistry is commonly chosen as a dual major by both Forensic Science students and Chemical Engineering students, but anyone interested in Chemistry as a dual major is welcome to sit down with a Chemistry advisor to discuss their options. All courses in Chemistry are taught by full-time faculty members; the full-time faculty is comprised of six Ph.D. chemists, three Ph.D. chemical engineers, and three M.S. chemistry instructors. The faculty works with students in newly renovated laboratories to provide a professional atmosphere for learning. Also available to students is The Forensic Science and Chemistry Club; club activities include field trips, community and university service projects, films, group discussions, and social activities. The Chemistry & Chemical Engineering Department is housed within the Tagliatela College of Engineering. Click here for a complete list of required courses for the Chemistry major. |
