University of New Haven: Undergraduate Admissions: Choose Biology at UNH
Biology

A Biology major at UNH offers a student hands-on training in cellular, molecular and biochemical techniques. The faculty have been active in the field and in research, and offer students extensive experience in the school's well-equipped laboratories. Graduates have the option of pursuing a professional or graduate degree, or entering the workforce in a variety of related fields, including research and development at a number of pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.

Several concentrations give the student the necessary experience to pursue a career in his or her field of choice. Pre-Medical / Pre-Dental / Pre-Veterinary prepares the student for entry to virtually every U.S. college of medicine, dentistry, or veterinary medicine. Biochemistry is appropriate for the student looking into careers in fields such as biotechnology or pharmaceutical research. Finally, a concentration in general Biology allows the student a general overview of the biological sciences, which is good preparation to also go into the Education program.
