International Students

The University of New Haven has a rolling admissions process, which means that we do not have a specific deadline. This allows freshman students the opportunity to apply anytime during their senior year of high school and allows transfer students to apply anytime throughout the year. However, we recommend that you submit your application as early as possible. Our application process varies by type of applicant, and the admission requirements vary based on the applicant's educational history and intended major. Applications will not be reviewed until all of the following applicable information has been received. Please refer to the specific requirements for international students outlined below:

  • Complete the online Undergraduate Application for Admission and save 50% on the application fee.
  • Submit an official copy of your secondary/high school transcript with a certified English translation to the International Admissions Office. (Note: The Right of Privacy Act requires that you must request all your official transcripts. UNH cannot request them on your behalf.)
  • Submit official transcripts from all the colleges/universities that you have attended, with certified English translation and course descriptions, to the International Admissions Office, if applicable.
  • A personal essay is required. The essay is an opportunity for us to get to know you as a person, not just your grades and test scores. It also gives us an example of how you express yourself and demonstrates your ability to organize your thoughts. The personal essay should be between 250 and 500 words on a topic of your choice.
  • Submit financial documentation for one year of tuition and living expenses in the United States.
  • Submit at least one letter of recommendation.
  • An official final secondary/high school transcript, including date of graduation and final official Leaving Certificate, must be forwarded as soon as possible.
  • For more information regarding international admission procedures, please contact the International Admissions Office and request that the International Student Information Brochure be mailed to you. We can be reached at 203/932-7320 or 800/DIAL-UNH Ext. 7320 or via email at intugadm@newhaven.edu.
  • International Students must provide Evidence of English Proficiency. Click here for requirements
