Scholarships Offered to Miss UNH and 2014 Titleholders

The University of New Haven is the only university in Connecticut this year to offer scholarships to winners of the Miss Connecticut, Miss Connecticut’s Outstanding Teen and Miss America’s Outstanding Teen pageants. This is in addition to our own annual pageant for Miss University of New Haven.

These women have demonstrated incredible overall talent and ability and devote a tremendous amount of time to helping the community. We are pleased to honor their commitment and accomplishments and look forward to having them as part of the UNH community.

The winners of the Miss Connecticut, Miss Connecticut’s Outstanding Teen and Miss America’s Outstanding Teen pageants will each receive a $5,000 UNH undergraduate scholarship in addition to any merit-based aid and financial aid that they may be eligible for. UNH is the only university to provide the scholarship at the teen level, which serves girls aged 13 to 17.

The Miss Connecticut Pageant serves young women aged 17 to 24 and is an official preliminary to the Miss America Pageant, the nation’s leading achievement program and world’s largest provider of scholarship assistance to young women. Participation provides young women with the opportunity to promote a platform of community service and share their talents, intelligence, and positive values while serving as role models in their communities.

Sarah Cantito was crowned Miss University of New Haven 2014. Sarah is currently a senior at UNH, majoring in criminal justice. Winners of the Miss University of New Haven Pageant go on to the Miss Connecticut Pageant.
