Army ROTC (Reserve Officers’ Training Corps) is a program that will enhance your child’s education by providing unique leadership training and management experience. It will help him or her develop the qualities necessary for success in either a military or civilian career. Students are given an opportunity to earn a college degree and an Army officer’s commission at the same time.
Once cadets have completed the requirements for a Bachelor’s degree and the ROTC program, they will earn a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army. ROTC is the number one source of commissioned officers in the country. Students from any major can participate in Army ROTC.
Cadets take part in Army ROTC three days a week during the academic semester. The time required for an Army ROTC cadet ranges from 6 hours a week for freshmen and sophomores to 8-12 hours per week for juniors and seniors.
Cadets will participate in physical fitness training every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. Classroom instruction is held once a week usually on Fridays while the leadership labs are held every other Friday afternoon, all on the UNH campus. Each semester one field training exercise will be held over a weekend, usually at Camp Rell in Connecticut.
