UNH/SOUTHEASTERN ANNOUNCES NEW PROGRAM FOR TEACHERS: MS IN PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION WITH FOCUS ON CURRENT TRENDS
The University of New Haven’s Southeastern Campus has recently announced plans to add a new program to its lineup for this fall: a Master of Science in Professional Education, focusing on Current Trends in the classroom.
The satellite campus of the University of New Haven, located on the Mitchell College campus in New London, CT, has a number of quality programs to offer full-time working adults, including this new Education program – which is being offered to current certification teachers teaching in the region who are interested in obtaining their Master’s degree.
The program will feature the cohort-style that is similar to other graduate programs UNH Southeastern offers. Students of the program will follow the same schedule and take classes together on weekday evenings throughout the entire program, creating life-long friends and great networking opportunities in the process.
The curriculum will include “Special Topics” courses, focusing on emerging practices and trends in education and learning for K-12 teachers. Strategies for Teaching Modern World Languages in K-12 Classrooms, Teaching the Millennium Student, Teaching English Language Learners, Brain Compatible Learning, and Adaptive Teaching (Differentiation) are courses that will be included in this new program.
To help kick off the program, UNH Southeastern will host a free professional development seminar for CT certified teachers with the topic, “Millennials, Media Literacy and Pop Culture’sInfluence in the K-12 Classroom” on May 29, 2008. The seminar will be held in the Weller Center at Mitchell College, 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm. CEU credits will be available, and seats are limited for the event, so registration is required.
