Master of Science in Engineering Management in New London
INTRODUCTION
The University of New Haven is a regional leader in providing career-oriented, contemporary education since 1920. We are pleased to announce another program for the Master of Science in Engineering Management (MSEM). This program provides advanced learning in modern Engineering Management topics. A segment of the program is drawn from the Executive MBA program at UNH and includes coursework in organizational development, financial and marketing management, and executive management and leadership. The MSEM program is designed for experienced professionals who hold managerial or supervisory positions. The accelerated format is conducive to one’s busy lifestyle, which allows completion of a Master’s degree quickly, while not sacrificing quality.
FORMAT
In two years a cohort of not more than 20 students can complete an MSEM degree that develops the skills, knowledge, and values today’s engineering manager must possess to be successful. The MSEM program consists of 18 modules over a two-year period. Each module is assigned three credits yielding 54 credits required for the degree. Modules are offered sequentially, and students enrolled in a class are expected to take each module as it is offered; the student will take and complete one course in a five-week increment. The same group of students remains together for the entire program in a seminar style. Classes meet on Mondays from 4:00 – 10:00 pm. There are no classes scheduled on major holidays, and there are short breaks at Christmas and the end of summer.
REQUIREMENTS
MSEM applicants should hold a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university, preferably in engineering, and should possess five or more years of management or supervisory experience in the engineering, technology, logistics, information, manufacturing or service industries. Any other unique experience, such as military or operations, will be considered by the faculty on its own merits relative to the needs of the cohort.
Other Benefits Include:
• Learning how to “bridge the gap” between engineering and management
• Encountering a practical, real-world based curriculum in the only program of its kind in Connecticut
• Earning a quality Master’s degree in 22 months without career interruptions
• Registration is required just once for the entire program
• Developing a life-long network of business peers
• Benefiting immediately from work-related class assignments
• Books are delivered to you – no waiting in line at the university bookstore
• Dinner is provided every week, and students dine together during a class break
