Excited for FSA!!!

Hey guys! This is my fist entry to my blog, and although this may be the most boring part of my blog, I thought I might give you all a little insight as to why I am so excited to be going to England for my first semester with the FSA program. First, I really wanted to study abroad in London for my first semester and I am so ecstatic that I am blessed with this opportunity! Second, I had gone to London last Christmas to perform in the New Year’s Day Parade and just fell in love with England! It is absolutely an amazing country, with so much of a history, and of energy. Third, not many people can say that they have studied abroad for their first semester of college, ever. Finally, I am always up for trying something new and different, especially diverse cultures and I thought that this was just perfect for me!

Some information that you may want to know about me, is that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MUSIC! I plan to see several concerts and musicals while in London, so this will definitely be affecting my blog. Within the next couple of months, you may see several references to shows that I have seen, and that I may or may not recommend to anyone who studies next year in England. I will give you all the scoop, don’t you worry! I also love photography, so once I have this blog figured out I will most likely be attaching many pictures of my adventures!

Now that the formalities are over…

With only one more week left until I head off to England, and I could not be any more excited! I have had a few bumps along the way dealing with my visa being all screwed up because of my picture, but other than that everything is going great. I was so excited and nervous that I might be forgetting something that I stayed up all last night and packed all of my stuff! Do you know how much of a pain it is to try and get a bag of luggage, full of a person’s belongings for a semester’s length of time, to be less than fifty pounds?!?! Using the bathroom scale did not help me much either! After finally getting to sleep at around 4:30 AM, now I at least know that I am not going to be a total disaster come September 16th.

It is really exciting to be studying abroad for my first semester, but it is also really hard leaving my family so soon. Oh, and another thing, I am going to be missing Thanksgiving! AHH!! But, no worries, my family and I set up an early Thanksgiving dinner last Sunday, with all the works! Turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, veggies, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie, which was all yummy, yummy, yummy! It was weird, it was ninety degrees out and I was slaving over a hot stove, while the kids were all swimming in the pool, so it was definitely not your typical Turkey Day.

As this upcoming week passes by, I am most likely going to be getting more and more nervous about leaving. I think that it’s the kind of nervous that you can’t tell if it’s because of fear of the unknown, or the excitement of finally leaving home, or maybe both, all I know is that it’s going to be one crazy ride…
