Sorry I haven’t blogged in a while—my semester has been so overwhelming, and I’m only now just coming out of the majority of my work. Even though the work is starting to ebb, it’s just going to start back up again soon because of finals. I cannot believe the year is almost over! It’s insane! Next semester is my last semester here, and I’m nervous and scared and excited and everything all at once just thinking about it.
This summer I have the wonderful opportunity of service as one of UNH’s President’s Public Service Fellowes. Interested students had to go through an application and interview process in order to gain acceptance into the fellowship. This awesome program places UNH students in various nonprofit positions throughout the New Haven and West Haven community. We get paid by the school and are also given a free room here over the summer, but it’s not completely one-sided: we must keep a weekly journal, have meetings, do a final paper, and present our work to the university community at the beginning of the next school year. It’s going to be a huge change from what I’ve been doing in past summers, but I can’t wait to start.
The weather has been getting warmer and warmer every day, but these random rainy days are really starting to bug me. This past weekend was sooo nice that I just had to go hang out in downtown New Haven. I love just walking around, stopping in at the Yale bookstore and grabbing a coffee. All of the architecture downtown is astounding and I literally walk around with my jaw hanging opening amazement.
To all of the students who have applied to UNH, good luck! Hope to see you next semester!
