One week closer to graduation!! It’s hard to believe that I can get even more excited than I already am. I’m starting to get more nervous though…the job search in this economy is tough. On a good note though, my mom is mailing me an application for my high school. I went to a vocational high school, and the year after I graduated they started a criminal justice shop (I was in machine shop). It’s only a temporary position, but still a good start!!
So that program I was going to tell you about. It’s a program run through the biology department at UNH. We have 8th graders from a local private school come to UNH for about 2 hours every other week for a couple months. We do different types of science experiments with them (biology, chemistry, physics). It’s great for them, because it allows them access to lab instruments they would never get to use otherwise. It’s great for the UNH students involved too. Not only is it a lot of fun, but it looks great on a resume…it shows that you can teach and lead other people even if you’re not looking into becoming a teacher.
Other than that school is pretty much the same as always! I had an exam on Wednesday (it was a tough one!!), and I have to get my thesis done this weekend. My 8 a.m. class is cancelled for Monday and Wednesday though!! My teacher is going to be out of town, but I’m sure he’ll record lessons for us to listen to on Tegrity. Have you been told about Tegrity yet?? It’s an awesome tool that allows teachers to record their lessons and upload them to Blackboard (our online learning community). It’s great for times like this when teachers can’t have class. That way you’re not losing out on the time you’re paying for. It’s also great when you have to miss a class for whatever reason (or over-sleep!!). It’s definitely not a replacement for class though. Sometimes the program messes up and doesn’t record or doesn’t upload, so I don’t take my chances unless I have to! Anyway, I should probably get back to my thesis!!
