True Life..I'm a Student Leader at UNH

Hello! My name is Kristina and I am a junior here at UNH. I am extremely involved on campus and I would like to share all of the aspects of my life at UNH with you! First off, I’ll give you a little background on me. I grew up in a very small town called Matamoras, Pennsylvania (it has less people in it than attend UNH!). I graduated with honors from Delaware Valley High School in 2006. I chose to attend UNH because of its Criminal Justice program and the way I felt when I stepped onto campus for the first time.  UNH has now become like a second home to me, and has shaped me into the person that I am today. I have become involved in many aspects of student life here and I want to use my experiences to give you a little taste of what it’s like to be at UNH.

Now that I have talked a little about where I come from, I will talk a little about the things I am involved in here on campus. First and foremost, I am a student. I am studying Criminal Justice (Investigative Services) with a minor in Fire Science. My plans are to graduate with my B.S. in Criminal Justice and then attend law school to further my education in the field. Next, I am also an athlete. I am Co-Captain of the Women’s Tennis Team. We have a year-round season and we are part of the Northeast 10 conference. I play #1 singles and #1 doubles. Lately, however, I have been injured with chronic shin splints. Our spring season is about to start so I’m sure you’ll be hearing more about it!

On the student life side of things, I am also a Resident Assistant in Winchester Hall. Next year, I will be taking the Senior Resident Assistant position in Botwinik Hall, a freshman residence hall.  A Resident Assistant is a student who is available on the floor to assists those that live on the floor. I am there as a mentor, a friend, and also as an authority figure to keep order in the building. I am also very involved in the Undergraduate Student Government Association at UNH, as the Executive Assistant (fancy name for secretary). Our student government is a very influential organization on campus and we do everything from hearing student concerns to facilitating communication between students and administrators. Since you’re stuck with me for the rest of the semester, I’ll leave the details of USGA out for another post!

I am certainly looking forward to blogging about my crazy student leader life and I hope that you will enjoy reading about it! Enjoy the rest of your day!

Thank you for supporting me, guys!

    Justin,

I am sorry that you misunderstood my blog post as a complaint. My intention was not to be boastful. My only intention is to share with prospective students the opportunities that I am given here at this University to hold leadership positions and develop skills I will use in the career I choose when I graduate. Yes, my positions are a lot of work. And yes, sometimes it gets stressful and I'll complain (as everyone does). But never do I consider my positions a burden. They are all wonderful opportunities given to me by this University. When you ask Are people at UNH like that?..if you mean involved, then yes, most of us are. And if you choose to attend here I would encourage you to become involved as well. Again, I am very sorry for your misunderstanding. Good luck in your college search.

I don't think she's complaining about her position. Where in the blog does it sound like a complain? Sounds like she's just stating how involved she is. Keep doing what you're doing Kristina!

I agree 100%. Kristina is just one example of how active and involved our students are on campus ... She was asked to blog for us to keep you guys up-to-date on everything she does, as she does a lot. Great job, Kristina!

why are you complaining about the positions you have?

are you trying to boast about how great you are, are people in UNH like that?
