Columbia Records, Rolling Stones, and a Snow Day

The best way to start off your week is definitely with a snow day! I'm sure many of you experienced that crazy blizzard last Monday. Being the nerd that I am, I didn't want classes to get cancelled because I didn't want to fall behind. But classes worked out fine, and I had a really fun day. I pretty much just ran around the building all day with my roommates, hanging out with our friends and making some new ones as well. Still, I'm really hopeful that that was the last we're going to see of the snow for awhile.

This week went very well for me. There was a guest speaker in my music business class, who was the head of promotion for Columbia Records for a long time, and worked with the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Elvis Costello and a lot of other amazing musicians. Pink Floyd loved this guy so much that they invited him to play one of their songs with them on stage at a show in London! So, you can only imagine the stories he had to tell. He gave us some great advice and I'm so glad that I got to hear him talk. What a great insight into the business, it's so cool that my teacher has such an awesome reputation that he can bring these people in to speak.

Next week I have four mid-terms, I can't believe it. I had maybe one at the most last semester, so I'm a little overwhelmed this time around. It isn't a huge deal though, because we're going to be rewarded with spring break when it's all finished! And even better, the St. Patrick's Day Parade in New Haven is on the 15th. The parade last year definitely ranks high on my favorite days of 2008, so I'm hoping that this year will top it. The campus bookstore has some great UNH irish clothing, I'm going to stop in this week and buy some. Being Irish is one of my favorite things.

So before we go crazy studying for mid-terms, we're celebrating my roommate's birthday this weekend. We've had a really fun weekend so far, and I of course opted to not go home this weekend. We're also about to select our housing for next year...I cannot WAIT to get that over with. The thing I dislike the most about college is probably when we have to choose housing because it can get really stressful. A word of advice, get all your roommates together early - it will make everything a whole lot easier!
