University of New Haven students may graduate in January, May, or August of each year. Ceremonies in which students may participate are only held in January and May. August graduates are invited to participate in the following January's ceremony.
Matriculated students are required to submit an application for graduation according to the schedule listed below. If you are expecting to graduate at the next scheduled commencement, you are reminded to submit your graduation application no later than the date listed below for your prospective commencement:
January Commencement - June 15
May Commencement - November 15
August - Awarding of Degrees - April 15
Students completing their degree requirements at the end of the fall or intersession terms will qualify to receive their diplomas with a January commencement date. Students completing their degree requirements at the end of the spring term will qualify to receive their diplomas with a May commencement date. Students completing their degree requirements at the end of the summer terms will qualify to receive their diplomas with an August commencement date.
Diplomas will be mailed to the students shortly after the scheduled commencement dates, depending on the timely submission of final grades by faculty members.
The application for graduation is now online. Log into your Banner self-service through InsideUNH at https://insideunh.newhaven.edu/cp/home/displaylogin. Click on the Banner self-service icon, click Student, click Student Records, and select Apply to Graduate. The Apply to Graduate link is accessible to those students that are eligible to receive their degrees. Eligibility is based on credits earned as follows: Graduate Masters/PhD degrees: minimum of 18 credits earned; Undergraduate Bachelors degrees: minimum 103 credits earned; and Undergraduate Associates degrees: minimum of 45 credits earned. Please be aware of the degree application deadlines above. If you miss the deadline, you will be able to apply for the next available graduation date when it opens approximately one to two months before the deadline.
