"The Future of Human-Computer Interaction(HCI)"
Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the Marvin K. Peterson Library, upper level
In the past few years many new technologies have been developed that have the potential to change the fundamental way that people interact with computers. A new trend is to create interfaces that allow for natural interfacing with computers that comprise of speech and motion gestures. New technologies are also allowing for a new field of "the Internet of Things (IoT)" that allow everyday objects to be connected to computers in new ways.
Christopher Martinez is currently an assistant professor in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Computer Science at the University of New Haven. He has a PhD in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas at San Antonio. Dr. Martinez teaches courses covering digital design, computer architecture and embedded systems. He works with many students on research projects that deal with embedded applications, hardware design, and using sensors in new ways to interact with computers.
