 This course will examine United States National Security Policy and Strategy with particular emphasis on the impact the 2008 Presidential Election and global events.  Following examination of current policies and strategies employed by the President and Congress, the course will examine the campaign platforms of the Democratic and Republican candidates for President regarding leading national security and foreign policy issues and track the campaign to election and the presidential transition which will follow.

 The course will also examine the changing geopolitical environment of the 21st centry, including the growing power of China, Russia and the Europena Union and their search for enhanced spheres of influence in Central and South Asia, Middle East, Africa, and South America.  Finally, the course will examine potential policy options for the next President and Congress to deal the changing global political and economic environment.
