  This is a Study Abroad course that will cover art history through a study of architecture and painting from the Romanesque period of 400 AD through the post-impressionist paintings at Giverny and the art museums in Paris. Architecturally, the Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and Modern styles will be studied. Students will be required to keep a daily journal and write a summative paper of at least ten pages after returning from the trip. The journal and the paper will be graded.

  This course is a 14-day trip to Italy from May 29 to June 10, 2008. The program will travel to Rome, Florence, Naples, and Pompeii.  The course will cover art history through a study of architecture and interiors from the Ancient Roman period through the Renaissance, Baroque, and Rococo periods. Architecturally, the Ancient Roman, Renaissance, Baroque, and Rococo styles will be studied. Students will be required to keep a daily journal with photos and write several short papers comparing and contrasting buildings of the different eras. The journal and papers will be graded. 6 credit hours.

Students will participate in a seminar before departure and write a report upon return. Trip dates are May 24 to June 8. There will be lectures at South China Normal University and visits to a number of Chinese and multinational companies. Students must register for both EC 450 and MK 450 and must pay 50% of their tuition by April 10 to enable purchase of air tickets.   This is a Study Abroad course that will cover the history of World War II in the European theater of war – with a special focus on France during the D-Day operations in June, 1944. The group will tour the landing beaches at Arromanches where British and Canadian forces landed on June 6, 1944. The museum is excellent and the artificial harbor used for the landing operation is still visible. The group will tour the cities of Caen and St. Lo as well as the fields just south of Arromanches where the 150 mm guns aimed at London are still in place.
