Freshman Experience Seminar
One-credit seminar required for graduation of all first-time freshmen.
Students are introduced to and required to meet their Academic Advisor.
The seminar is designed to assist first-time students in making the transition from high school to college through classroom discussions and experiential activities.

Academic Skills Counseling
Work with students individually or in small groups.
Assist students to be become academically successful.
Focus on strengthening study and time management skills.
Developmental Mentoring
The Office of Academic Services administers the Developmental Mentoring Program
Classroom instructors in both the Math and English fundamental courses mentor their students. The program is designed to assist students with developing the skills necessary to succeed at college level math and/or English. Instructors meet with their students to review progress reports from other courses; referrals to support services are made when necessary.
Academic Monitoring
Written reports are received from instructors 4 and 8 weeks into the semester.
Many students will be monitored because of their University status (Athlete, Probation, Learning Disabled).
Any undergraduate at the University of New Haven may request to be monitored by an Academic Skills Counselor.
Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society
A distinguished national honor society for part-time evening students.
Recognizes the special achievements of adults who accomplish academic excellence while facing competing interests of home and work.
Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society
A nationally recognized honor society.
Encourages superior academic attainment among students in their first year in institutions of higher education, promoting intelligent living and a continued high standard of learning.
Proctoring
OAS/CLR provides a proctoring service to evening students taking placement exams as well as to any student needing to take a make-up exam.
Student Ombudsperson
Acts as a liaison between students and the university to address student and/or parent concerns, mediate disputes and facilitate resolutions.
Makes recommendations regarding issues and provides counsel to students.
