Susanne Murphy serves as the Director of Student Teaching and is a full-time non-tenure track faculty member in the Unit.  Her thirty-one years of professional experience includes classroom teaching, program leadership in instruction for the academically talented, grade level principalships, and service as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction, and Assistant Superintendent of Schools.  She served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Connecticut Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, and was an author of that Association’s two position papers: Curriculum for the New Millennium, (editions one and two).   She has served on a variety of state-level boards and task forces including the Hartley Commission examining the state of public school administration, and presented to the state board of education and various professional organizations in the area of student assessment and reducing the achievement gap for poor and minority students.
