Instrumentation Technician #11-102
The Tagliatela College of Engineering at the University of New Haven seeks applications for an instrumentation technician to provide support for the Tagliatela College of engineering programs and activities. This is a 12-month full-time, regular position. Review of applications will start February 6th.
The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of activities to support the faculty and students in their teaching and learning environment. The candidate will be expected to:
- Work closely with faculty to maintain equipment, instrumentation and computers in college laboratories and classrooms
- Maintain an inventory of equipment; anticipate and order replacement parts
- Develop experimental procedures for student lab exercises and research
- Test existing equipment to assure readiness for lab exercises and student use
- Responsible for documentation and calibration of instruments and equipment
- Work with faculty to research and acquire new tools and equipment for labs
- Set up and test new equipment and support laboratory demonstrations
- Help develop and troubleshoot LabVIEW projects and help program new LabVIEW applications
- Coordinate activities of student TA’s for various EAS and disciplinary courses
- Advise faculty and students on instructional and research projects, design specifications, engineering materials, and instrumentation requirements.
- Work a flexible schedule including working early mornings, late evenings, or on weekends if/when needed.
The successful candidate will need to recognize potential safety hazards in laboratories and will supervise or perform corrective or preventative maintenance to ensure a safe and functional laboratory environment; will instruct undergraduate and graduate students in the operation of laboratory equipment, safety regulations, and appropriate procedures; will serve as an overseer of college classrooms/studios and labs and complete other duties as needed for the college.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, technology or a closely related field.
- Experience in the setup; installation; troubleshooting; and maintenance and operation of laboratory instruments.
- Excellent communication skills, team spirit and great work ethics are expected.
A working knowledge and experience using advanced engineering packages such as: LabVIEW, Multisim, MatLAB, Solidworks, Ansys, and AutoCAD are highly desirable.

Records and Data Management Specialist #11-106
The individual in this position will utilize independent judgment to interpret policies and procedures, and to answer complex records and data questions. He/she will have a thorough knowledge of records and project management and data management in order to manage a complex record system or database of specialized records.
Core Duties:
- Establishes, coordinates, verifies, updates and maintains a complex record system or database of specialized needs
- Utilizes system to create, monitor, process, audit and track records and information
- Directs process of gathering and loading records to establish and maintain data
- Implements and oversees guidelines for deletion of records
- Prepares, analyzes, oversees and distributes reports
- Solves problems and provides customer service assistance to students regarding financial aid, admissions, and registration as needed
- Acts as liaison with other University staff in accessing and reporting data
- Maintains awareness of governmental regulations related to continuing and distance learning and interprets policies, procedures and guidelines
- Supervises staff and student employees as assigned
- Trains staff on input and manipulation of data and maintenance of records as needed
- Performs administrative functions (e.g., maintains budget; coordinates graduation process; answers correspondence; oversees computer equipment, software updates and compliancy; analyzes and troubleshoots problems; coordinates technical support).
- Other such duties and responsibilities as requested or assigned
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Bachelor degree required; some work toward Master degree preferred
- Three to five years of administrative experience to include project management
- Knowledge of records management, complex record systems or record database, data analysis
- Exceptional computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office applications to include spreadsheets, word documents, databases and PowerPoint
- Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and multi-task
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to work both independently and as a team member
- Ability to be flexible in terms of hours of work, as required
- Openness to change and ability to adapt to evolving practices to support new program creation, development and growth

Dean – College of Business #11-71
The University of New Haven seeks an academic leader to work productively with faculty and administration to insure the continuing excellence of the College of Business. The Dean serves as the academic officer of the College of Business and holds responsibility for developing and administering the academic programs of the unit. The Dean reports to the Executive Dean of the College of Business.
College of Business: The College of Business is comprised of academic programs housed in seven academic departments: Accounting; Finance, Management and Sports Management; Marketing and Quantitative Analysis; Economics, Hospitality and Tourism; and Public Management. The departments of Hospitality and Tourism, Public Management, and Economics are housed in the School of Professional Programs, a division within the College composed of programs not pursuing AACSB accreditation. The College offers Bachelor’s of Science degrees in Accounting, Finance, Management, Sports Management, Marketing, and Hospitality and Tourism. In addition, the College of Business offers the Master of Business Administration, an Executive Master of Business Administration, an MS in Sports Management, an MS in Taxation, and a Dual Degree Program — an MBA/MPA. There are also MS programs in areas such as Healthcare and Labor Relations. The College, which has 41 full-time faculty members, is a member of AACSB and is currently seeking accreditation.
Lawrence Flanagan, the former Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for MasterCard Worldwide, serves as the Executive Dean and chief executive officer of the College. He is responsible for establishing the vision and direction of the College, represents the College to external constituencies and oversees the quality of academic programs.
Qualifications for the Dean’s Position:
The preferred candidate should possess the following:
- A record of working creatively and productively with faculty and colleagues to deliver innovative programs and solutions.
- A minimum of three years’ experience as a department chair, associate dean, or in a comparable position where positive enrollment growth, student retention, graduation rates and continuous improvement metrics can be demonstrated.
- Significant budgetary experience.
- A thorough knowledge of AACSB requirements or, preferably, active participation in the accreditation process.
- A record as an adept and skillful administrator who encourages collaboration and oversees an efficient office.
- A record of encouraging diversity within the faculty and staff as well as a record of recruiting and effectively managing highly qualified faculty.
- An earned Doctorate in one of the College's disciplines is required.

General Statement of Duties: The Research Analyst supports the Director in carrying out the functions of the Office of Institutional Research. The Office currently includes the Director, an Assistant Director, two research staff, and two graduate assistants.
Specific Duties include: Assisting the Director and other Institutional Research staff with the following:
- Preparing term census files for reporting and research
- Analyzing and preparing budget reports
- Preparing the annual Fact Book and term Quick Facts reports
- Developing and maintaining dashboard indicators
- Data collection and analysis used in retention studies, predictive modeling and other studies used by the university administrators
- Providing analytical support for university recruiting and enrollment management initiatives
- Responding to requests for data from both external and internal constituents
- Completing the Common Data Set (CDS) and all surveys for college guide publications, including U.S. News and World Report, College Board, etc.
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements: Earned bachelor’s degree in related field plus to one to two years of experience in institutional research or a similar field is required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to structure data in understandable formats
- Ability to work with large, complex datasets
- Strong attention to and tolerance for detail, balanced with the ability to see the “big picture”
- Knowledge of Excel at an intermediate or advanced level
- Ability to learn new software applications, such as Tableau
Desired Skills:
- Ability to prepare professional quality reports
- Experience with Banner, Tableau, Rapid Insight, SPSS, or PowerPoint
- Experience creating surveys and analyzing results
- Ability to work with a diverse group of people in an academic setting

Position — The Dean of the Henry C. Lee College serves as the chief academic officer of the College and holds full responsibility for the academic programs, their curricula, the budget, and development activities of the College. Specific responsibilities include providing academic leadership; developing and implementing a strategic plan; supervising College personnel; encouraging and supporting curriculum development; supporting and strengthening faculty and student research; developing and implementing assessment processes; overseeing recruitment and retention of students pursuing degrees in the College; planning, setting priorities, and managing fiscal resources; fundraising; and working as a key member of the University’s management team. The Dean reports to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and is a key member of the President’s Cabinet, Deans’ Council, and the Academic Leadership Council.
