The Department of Communication, Film, & Theatre at the University of New Haven seeks applicants for a tenure-track assistant professor to teach courses in journalism, advertising and public relations. Qualified candidates should possess a Ph.D. in Journalism, Mass Communication, or a related field. ABD's with a definite date for completion will be considered. A background in theory and methodology, and a commitment to on-going research and publication are required. To be considered at the rank of associate professor, candidates must possess a doctorate and a significant number of refereed publications. FACULTY - INTERIOR DESIGN - Search #08-21

The University of New Haven has an opening for a non-tenure-track Fulltime Lecturer in Interior Design beginning August 27, 2008.  The successful candidate will teach lower and upper level interior design studios utilizing a working knowledge of CAD (AutoCAD) in upper level studio courses and strong hand drafting, sketching and rendering skills in lower level studios. Specialization and/or an ability to teach in related areas such as textiles, interior products and specifications, professional practices for interior design, interior systems, materials and codes, architectural drawing, sketching and rendering, construction documents and art are desirable.  Candidates must be committed to teaching and mentoring students by engaging students in experiential education opportunities.  Candidates must have a minimum of a Master's degree (M.F.A., M.I.D., M.A., or M.S.) with at least one degree in interior design. Preference will be given to candidates who in addition to academic training and professional practice in interior design, has 3-5 years of teaching experience in undergraduate interior design courses. NCIDQ Certification is required or must be achieved within two years. LEED certification is desirable. FACULTY - GRAPHIC DESIGN - Search #08-20

 

The Graphic Design program within the Department of Visual and Performing Arts, housed in the College of Arts and Science, seeks an enthusiastic candidate as a Fulltime Lecturer. Candidate will teach lower and upper level graphic and digital design studios utilizing a working knowledge of industry standard software (Illustrator, InDesign Photoshop, Flash, Dreamweaver, etc.)  Both traditional and digital production skills are required. Experience with 3D modeling/animation a plus. Specialization and/or an ability to teach in related areas such as typography, illustration, multimedia, art, etc. Other duties include participation in program development, undergraduate advising and service to the university. Candidates must be committed to teaching and mentoring students by engaging students in experiential education opportunities.

Candidates must have a minimum of a Master's degree (M.F.A., M.A., or M.S.) with at least one degree in graphic design. Preference will be given to candidates who in addition to academic training and professional practice in graphic design have 3-5 years of teaching experience in undergraduate graphic design curricula. The Department of Psychology at the University of New Haven invites applications for a one-year position as a non-tenure track lecturer for the 2008-2009 academic year, with the possibility of renewal. Psychology Department– Search # 07-87

The University of New Haven’s Department of Psychology has an opening in Industrial/Organizational Psychology for a renewable, non-tenure-track Lecturer in Industrial/Organizational Psychology.  Successful candidate will teach graduate courses at the University’s main campus and satellite campus in New London, CT. Position will require evening as well as some Saturday teaching. The normal teaching load is two graduate courses per trimester.  LECTURER POSITIONS

The University of New Haven is anticipating a number of full-time and half-time Lecturer positions available this fall 2008.  The teaching positions are in the areas of English, Mathematics (College Algebra and Calculus), History, Psychology, and Sociology.  These are one-year positions that may be renewable.  Teaching expectation is three to four courses per academic semester.  Classes average 20 to 30 students each.  A Masters degree in the appropriate field is required although a doctorate is preferred.  Teaching experience is also preferred.
