The Careers for the Common Good workshop series focuses on giving UNH students inspiration, knowledge, and awareness of nonprofit careers and of volunteer opportunities after graduation. All students are welcome to attend our free workshops.
Our workshops will allow you to:
- Learn about the nonprofit and public sectors.
- Learn about viable career options in the nonprofit and public sectors.
- Make connections with nonprofit and public service employers.
- Discover resources when looking for socially responsible careers.
1. NONPROFIT CAREERS: INFO SESSION
This workshop is a general info session about nonprofit jobs!! Topics will include: different sectors of nonprofits, salary information, graduate school options, and ways to get involved!

1. NONPROFIT CAREERS: A PANEL DISCUSSION
Come hear nonprofit professionals share their success stories in their fields! The panel will describe how they got to where they are and how you can do it too! The discussion will be from 4:30-5:15 with a 15 minute Q&A. Panelists include: Dr. Steven Kaplan, UNH President; Janis Astor del Valle, ED of Youth Rights Media; Stephen Cremin-Endes, Community Building Specialist of Neighborhood Housing Services of New Haven; Kellyann Day, CEO of New Haven Home Recovery; and Johanna Krebs, Court Monitoring Specialist at MADD.

2. RESUME WRITING TO HIGHLIGHT COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
In partnership with the Career Development Center, this session will begin with a presentation on how to showcase experiences such as volunteering, the Community Work Study program, and service-learning. The presentation will also include information on how to find jobs in the nonprofit sector specifically. A Q&A will follow the presentation. Students are encouraged to bring hard copies of their resumes and take notes throughout the session.

3. POST-GRADUATE SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES
Current and/or alumni from Teach for America, the Peace Corps, and AmeriCorps (VISTA and NCCC) will be present to share their experiences and stories with the UNH Community.
