Biography

    Dr. Kleinfeld serves as Associate Provost for Graduate Studies, Research and Faculty Development in which capacity he is responsible for assisting the operational leadership of the provost’s office, oversight of the Graduate School, university support and oversight of sponsored faculty research and non discipline-specific faculty development.  He is also a faculty member in the Tagliatela College of Engineering, Division of Multidisciplinary Engineering Systems, teaching courses in engineering economy, operations research, and statistical analysis.  He earned his B.S., M.S. and Eng.Sc.D. in Industrial Engineering from the School of Engineering and Applied Science at Columbia University.  Dr. Kleinfeld is the author of the text “Engineering Economics: Analysis for Evaluation of Alternatives” as well as numerous articles on engineering economy and computer applications for industrial engineering.  He is a senior member of the Institute of Industrial Engineers, the American Society of Quality Control, and the American Society for Engineering Education.  He received the Sears, Roebuck “Excellence in Teaching” award at UNH.  In addition, he has served as an accreditation team member for the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology and as an accreditation team leader and member for the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.  During his previous tenure as Chair of the Industrial Engineering Department at UNH, he served as an active member of the Council of Industrial Engineering Academic Department Heads of the United States.
