General Engineering

Introduction
The Tagliatela College of Engineering offers a bachelor of science degree in general engineering for those interested in a career involving engineering knowledge without the prescribed requirements of a program in a specific engineering discipline. With nine elective choices, students can design a unique program to meet their career objectives. This general program is also an excellent choice for students who are undecided about which specific area of engineering to pursue. During the first year, students take the same foundation courses as students in specific engineering majors. Through the Multidisciplinary Engineering Foundation Spiral, they gain insight into all our engineering disciplines while learning practical skills.  Transfer to most engineering majors is seamless during the first three semesters.

Unique Features

  • The general engineering program combines a strong engineering core with study in another area of interest. Students can select a minor in any area offered by the University.
  • A flexible scheduling option allows students who choose to work in the field to continue progress toward their degree through part-time study.
