Dr. Susan McTiernan is a Visiting Associate Professor of Management at the University of New Haven.  

  • Served as an associate dean at the Zarb School of Business at Hofstra University and at the Tobin College of Business at St. John’s University, where she received several awards for outstanding performance.
  • Served as an elected member of the board of directors of the Graduate Management Admission Council and as Vice Chair of the steering committee for the Women Administrators in Management Education Affinity Group within AACSB International.
  • Susan is a Fulbright Scholar (Federal Republic of Germany) and is a member of The Academy of Management, The International Association for Business and Society, and the Financial Women’s Association (FWA) of New York, where she serves on the organization’s committee on corporate governance and board directorships. 
  • Earned a doctorate in management and organizational behavior from the Weatherhead School at Case Western Reserve University, where she was a Packard Foundation Scholar, an EDM Fellow and a Fellow of the University’s Mandel Center for Nonprofit Organizations. 
  • She has been for several years the primary investigator for the FWA 100, an analysis of the representation of women within the executive ranks and on the boards of directors of the top 100 publicly traded companies in the New York metropolitan region, a project conducted in cooperation with the Deloitte Center for Corporate Governance that is part of a national network of similar studies.
  • Her research on women leaders in the business school community has been published in a variety of media, including BusinessWeek.  Dr. McTiernan’s research and teaching interests focus on ethics, organizational behavior and leadership.
