Student-Managed Portfolio

College of Business students manage the Charger Portfolio through competitive investment proposals every year. Seed money was donated by Mr. Ralph De La Camera, member of the UNH Board and UNH class of '75. The proposal competition is a major project students have to do in investment courses. Teams of students present their proposals to the Charger Portfolio Advisory Board made up of Mr. George Synodi, UNH VP of Finance, Dr. Richard Highfield, Dean of the College of Business, and finance professors Robert Rainish, Charlie Boynton, Gregory Blosick and Demissew Ejara. The winning proposal, based on the advisory board's evaluation, is implemented.

In 2009/2010 academic year, four teams of MBA students in the Equity Market Valuation and Analysis (FI611) presented their proposals. Under a team name of Four Guys Capital Management, students Paul Goglia, Francisco P.T. Machado, Prajwal Pradhan and Rob Wokanovicz won the competition. See UNH Today News. The proposal was implemented and by the fall of 2010, the portfolio achieved a rate of return of about 18% compared to 10% return on the S&P500 index over the same period.

In the fall of 2010, a new set of competitive proposals were presented by five teams in the FI611 class. Under a team name of Think Tank, Chang Liu, Xiaoyi Xu, Si Chen, Yaoxiang Ren and Peng Li won the competition. Click here for the news.
