The Hazell Nut Café opened in the spring of 2007 under the direction of Hospitality Professor James Murdy. The Café is completely student run by the hospitality program's Service Management class. Jeff Hazell, an active alumni and sponsor of the hospitality program, made the Café possible. Hospitality students decided to name it after him to thank him for all that he does for their program.
The Café currently brews Omar Coffee, a local roaster located in Newington, CT. They offer a variety of flavors, including the most popular, ZAP! coffee with three times the caffeine of most coffees! The Hazell Nut Café also offers tea, cappuccino, and espresso, along with muffins, biscotti, and the ever-so-popular mini melts ice cream. Hours of operation are Monday thru Thursday 8 a.m.-8:30 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Come for the coffee, stay for the company!
