Faculty & Resources

Faculty members teaching sports management at the University of New Haven bring years of sports industry experience to the classroom. Their network of industry contacts helps students find quality internships and employment. Sports management students also take courses with regular business faculty who concentrate on honing students' general business skills.

Gil B. Fried, Esq.             

Professor of Sports Management, received a joint law and sports management degree from Ohio State University. He is a practicing attorney who represents several national and international sports organizations. He appears regularly as an expert witness in sports-related court cases. He consults on sports facility and finance issues and has served as marketing VP for a professional league. He has written seven highly-regarded textbooks and numerous articles. His primary emphases are sports law, finance, and facility administration. He coordinates the M.S. program and the M.B.A. sports management concentration, besides chairing the broader Management and Sports Management Department.  Professor Fried also coordinates for-credit experiential education programs throughout the College of Business.

Allen L. Sack, Ph.D.           

Professor of Sports Management, played on Notre Dame's 1966 National Championship football team. He later served as director of the federally funded Center for Athletes' Rights and Education, an organization co-sponsored by the National Football League Players Association. His extensive research on sports industries has appeared in numerous academic books and journals. He has served as a consultant to the NCAA and as an expert witness, and has published numerous columns in periodicals such as the New York Times, the Sporting News, and the Chronicle of Higher Education. He is the director of the Institute for Sports Management at UNH.

Kevin Mongeon, Ph.D., MBA

Assistant Professor of Sport Management, received a Ph.D. in economics from Washington State University and an MBA from the University of Windsor.   He has more than 10 years of experience in the sports and entertainment industry working with both professional sports teams and leagues.  He is the principal owner of The Sports Analytics Institute that consults on sports analytics to various professional hockey teams.  He teaches the graduate and undergraduate courses in sports economics, sport business, and sport marketing.  His research applies mainstream economics to sports.
