Michael G. Kaloyanides has conducted field research in the the rural and urban musics of Greece and Turkey and has recorded albums of Greek and Turkish folk music for Lyrichord Records. Dr. Kaloyanides has served as a field evaluator for the National Endowment for the Arts, has published in the Journal of The Society for Ethnomusicology, and Essays in Arts and Sciences, and authored material for the New Grove Dictionary of Music in the United States. In addition, he composed and produced the film scores for the PBS documentaries The Royal Archives of Ebla and Arts in the Workplace and has lectured on various aspects of music, culture, and technology world-wide.

Dr. Kaloyanides has a varied background as a performer. He is a classically-trained percussionist who has played bouzoukee in Greek ensembles and in nightclubs, drums in West African drumming ensembles, and guitar and keyboards in blues and rock bands.

Before joining the faculty at the University of New Haven, Dr. Kaloyanides taught at Wesleyan University, the Hartt School of Music, and Yale University.
