LOURDES CORREA-CARLO APPRECIATES THE SPACES BETWEEN TWO AND THREE-DIMENSIONAL STRUCTURES. CORREA-CARLO'S WORK INVOLVES PHOTOGRAPHING THE SURROUNDING ARCHITECTURE IN NEIGHBORHOODS WHERE SHE HAS LIVED TO REDUCE THESE IMAGES TO THEIR INHERENT ELEMENTS. HER WORK EXPLORES HOW FORMS AND SYMBOLS CAN BE ENTERED OR BLOCKED FROM VIEW. SHE CREATES PHOTOMONTAGES, DRAWINGS, AND SCULPTURES. CORREA-CARLO IS INTERESTED IN HOW IMAGES, OBJECTS, AND BODIES CAN INTERACT WITH AN INVERTED LOGIC.

CORREA-CARLOS RECEIVED HER M.F.A. FROM YALE UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF ART, IN NEW HAVEN, CT, AND HER B.F.A. FROM ESCUELA DE ARTES PLÁSTICAS, IN SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO. SHE ALSO ATTENDED THE UNIVERSIDAD DE PUERTO RICO IN SAN JUAN FOR STUDIES IN ART HISTORY. CARLOS HAS COMPLETED MANY PRESTIGIOUS RESIDENCIES INCLUDING THE CORE PROGRAM AT THE MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS IN HOUSTON, TX AND WOODSTOCK CENTER FOR PHOTOGRAPHY IN NEW YORK, NY. SHE HAS EXHIBITED HER WORK AT SEVERAL VENUES INCLUDING MARC JANCOU CONTEMPORARY IN NEW YORK, NY, JULIUS CAESAR IN CHICAGO, IL, AND GALERÍA COMERCIAL IN SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO. HER WORK HAS BEEN WRITTEN ABOUT IN ART IN AMERICA, ARTNET MAGAZINE, AND ARTNEXUS.
