Student Employment Opportunities

There are a number of ways for students to gain valuable work experience, while earning a few extra dollars to pay the bills and enjoy campus life. Opportunities for students to work include:

Federal Work-Study is awarded to students who demonstrate financial need. Eligible students are able to select from a wide range of positions including jobs in Residential Life, Dining Services, and various admininstrative offices. Students also have the option to work off campus in a community service capacity. Generally, students work between six to ten hours but can work up to twenty hours per week. Federal Work-Study students earn $7.65 per hour and are paid on a weekly basis. Most students use these earnings to pay for books and other personal expenses.

Institutional Student Employment (Bursary) is offered by individual offices and departments to full time students. Students can check for the availability of Bursary positions on the University Blackboard site or inquire at the Career Services Office. Bursary students are paid on a weekly basis and may work up to twenty hours per week.

Student Employment Forms
All student workers must complete Federal and Connecticut tax documentation as well as university work-authorization and confidentiality forms. No student may begin working until all required documents have been submitted to the financial aid office. Students must also be prepared to present two original forms of identification to confirm employment eligibility.
