Apply For Financial Aid

  • Applying for Financial AidStudents 2007
    Who is eligible to apply?

In order to be eligible to receive financial aid at the University of New Haven, students must have been officially accepted and matriculated for admission and be enrolled in a degree program.  Students whose admission/matriculation status is "in process" or who are enrolled in a personal enrichment program are not eligible.  Students must also be enrolled on at least a half-time (5 credits per trimester) basis. Current students must be in good academic standing and those students who are prior aid recipients must be making satisfactory academic progress.

    How to Apply:

Graduate students must submit the following documentation to make application for aid:

    1) UNH Graduate Financial Aid Application- this document must be submitted directly to the UNH Financial Aid Office and can be completed online.  Complete the 2008-2009 UNH Graduate Financial Aid Application [click here] if you are requesting aid for these terms: Fall 2008, Winter 2009 or Spring 2009.

    2) Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)- The FAFSA is required of all applicants for financial aid and must be sent directly to the Federal Student Aid Program.
Students must complete the FAFSA on the world wide web.The internet address is www.fafsa.ed.gov.  Complete the 2008-2009 FAFSA if you are requesting aid for these terms: Fall 2008, Winter 2009, or Spring 2009.  [Click here to complete the FAFSA.]

    About the FAFSA:
You must list the University of New Haven as one of the schools entitled to receive this information and list our Title IV school code # which is 001397. The FAFSA must be received at the Federal Student Aid Program by the stated deadline date. Students who applied for aid in the previous academic year and received a "Renewal FAFSA" may complete the renewal application in place of a new FAFSA. Even though your renewal FAFSA may list "University of New Haven", you must put the Title IV school code #001397 on the application. Once your FAFSA is processed, they will send you a "Student Aid Report" from the federal processing center. You do NOT need to submit this report to us.  As long as you have listed the 001397 UNH code # on your application, we will receive your FAFSA information electronically from the processing center.  If you previously completed the FAFSA and received your processed Student Aid Report from the federal processing center but did not authorize release to the University of New Haven, you can call us with the Data Release Number (DRN). We can use the DRN to draw down your application electronically from the federal processing center.   Please note that you cannot submit a 2008-2009 FAFSA until January 1, 2008.

NOTE: Once you have completed your financial aid application and it is reviewed, additional forms and documents may be requested.  If you will receive financial assistance or scholarships from an outside source (including employer tuition reimbursement or Veteran's Benefits) for the academic year, you must declare this information on your UNH Financial Aid Application and/or notify the Financial Aid Office.  Financial aid applications must be completed and loan applications certified prior to the last day of the term for which you are seeking aid.
