Say Ciao! to UNH’s New Tuscany Campus
Imagine taking classes in a magnificent old palace situated on a picturesque town square with an historic medieval cathedral and a 13th-century castle nearby. Sound like a dream? Not anymore.
In Fall 2012, the University of New Haven opened a satellite campus in Prato, Italy, the second largest city in Tuscany and only 20 minutes by train from Florence. The new campus provides an exceptional opportunity for students to immerse themselves in the culture and language of a European country.
UNH students, in fact, frequently take classes in their major while living and learning thousands of miles from home. Jocelyn Bright '13 spent the fall semester of her sophomore year participating in an exchange program at the University of Lincoln in England.
"Not only did I get to experience firsthand what it's like to be an international student and learn in a different country with its own schooling system, but my time at Lincoln also helped me gain a broader perspective of the world," said Jocelyn.
Outside of her schoolwork, the global studies major took in a soccer game and embraced every opportunity to explore her new surroundings.
"Some days," said Bright, "my friend and I would just go to the train station and buy a ticket to any town and go wander around for a few hours."
