Spend two weeks in Russia this summer studying their criminal justice system. The program will combine study, sightseeing and social interaction with Russian criminal justice practitioners and students. The delegation will visit three cities: Moscow, St. Petersburg and Pskov, July 9-23, 2009.
Moscow and St. Petersburg are the two largest cities of Russia. Visit Moscow for four days including Red Square and the Kremlin, and the historic sights of St. Petersburg for three days, including Peter and Paul Fortress (the first structure of the city) and the Winter Palace, containing the world famous Hermitage Art Museum.
The delegation will also visit Pskov for six days, one of the oldest Russian cities (first mentioned in the Chronicles in 903). Situated in the north-west of Russia, the city was the strongest fortress of Russia and played an important role in defending the Russian border from numerous enemies. Pskov's historical role is reflected in its Battle Monuments from the 12th century to World War II, as well as more than fifty historic churches and monasteries.
