Directions and Parking

Parking
  • Please follow these important guidelines to make parking as delay-free as possible on Commencement day, Saturday, January 19, 2013
  • Please plan to arrive early - the heaviest volume of traffic arrives in the half-hour prior to the start of the Commencement ceremony
  • University Police will direct Commencement guests to available parking areas - your patience and cooperation will be greatly appreciated
  • Please refer to the University's CAMPUS MAP for available parking on Commencement day
  • Handicapped parking will be available in close proximity to the David A. Beckerman Recreation Center
  • Parking will also be available on the University's North Campus
  • UNH courtesy vans and shuttle buses will be available to transport students and their guests from the various parking lots on campus to the Beckerman Recreation Center
  • Roadways must remain accessible for emergency vehicles - Vehicles found parked in fire lanes, blocking any campus gates or roadways, or parked on the side streets surrounding the University will be subject to being towed at the owner's expense

 

Directions From New York and Points West

From Connecticut Turnpike (I-95) North Bound

  • Take Exit 43, Campbell Avenue
  • Turn left at bottom of exit ramp on to Campbell Avenue
  • Continue past University of New Haven sign on left at Ruden Street (0.6 miles) to intersection with Route 1 (Boston Post Road)
  • Turn left at first light on to Route 1 (Boston Post Road) and travel to top of hill
  • Turn left at first light in to the University of New Haven's Main Campus for parking and access to the David A. Beckerman Recreation Center
  • Parking will also be available on the University's North Campus (right at light and follow signs)

From Merritt/Wilbur Cross Parkway (Route 15) North Bound

  • Take Exit 57, Route 34 East (Derby Avenue)
  • Travel 3.4 miles to Route 122 (Forest Road)
  • Turn right on to Forest Road and travel 1 mile to first traffic light, Route 1 (Boston Post Road)
  • Turn right at light on to Route 1 (Boston Post Road) and travel to top of hill
  • Turn left at light in to the University of New Haven's Main Campus for parking and access to the David A. Beckerman Recreation Center
  • Parking will also be available on the University's North Campus (right at light and follow signs)

 

Directions From Hartford, Boston, Providence, New London and Points North and East
NOTE:  From South bound I-91, remain on highway and follow to juncture with I-95 South bound (towards New York City). Follow directions below:

From Connecticut Turnpike (I-95) South Bound

  • Take Exit 43, First Avenue
  • Turn right at bottom of exit ramp on to First Avenue
  • Travel 0.5 miles to second traffic light, Route 122 (Campbell Avenue)
  • Turn right at second traffic light on to Route 122 (Campbell Avenue) and continue past University of New Haven sign on left at Ruden Street to intersection with Route 1 (Boston Post Road)
  • Turn left at first light on to Route 1 (Boston Post Road) and travel to top of hill
  • Turn left at first light in to the University of New Haven's Main Campus for parking and access to the David A. Beckerman Recreation Center
