The Seton Gallery is pleased to present “Roominations”: Contemplating the Psyche’s Home, a collaborative installation by the Women’s Caucus for Art – Connecticut:

Dreams have long been a source of inspiration for artists and philosophers. They have taken artists on new journeys ranging from works based on the interpretation of their content to a movement based on their visions.

Dreamscapes combine that strange sense of recognition with unexpected discovery. We may find these places unfamiliar, mildly unnerving, or even scary. On the other hand, we may find them soothing, calming, inspirational, or joyful. While often distorted, these altered places take us down the paths of our psyche.

In this series of related installations, members of the Women’s Caucus for Art of Connecticut collaborated to produce dreamscapes that explore the concept of “home” for the body and spirit; they address the unconscious desire for a home for the psyche. In exploring the real and imaginary aspects of home, we found their meaning changed and morphed in shape and content over a lifetime. As women with changing roles, we were especially sensitive to this evolution, and we tried to convey the multiplicity of “rooms” in our lives.

Please join us for a reception: Wednesday November 11th 5:00-7:00 pm. The exhibition runs from November 5th to December 3rd with gallery Hours: Tuesday-Friday 1-5pm and Saturday and Sunday 12-3 pm.
