What do I do if I have forgotten my UNH network password?

To reset your password automatically you will need the following information:

  1. The last four (4) digits of Your Student ID number (located on the front of your student ID)
  2. Your date of birth (in this format – Ex: March 3rd 1985 = 1985Mar03)

To locate your Matrix ID number look at the front of your student ID – it is the number that is prefixed by three zero’s.  See the example student ID below for reference:

University of New Haven ID
Example (using the Matrix ID above)

UNH Student was born on March 3rd 1985 and his Matrix ID is 000616616. So his “answer” to the password challenge question would be “1985Mar036616”. He would then be able to reset his password to one of his choosing. This would become his new password for UNH e-mail (Outlook Live), Matrix, Blackboard, and any other UNH system that relies on his UNH network account for authentication.

Please Note:

  • The password has to be at least 8 Characters, and no greater than 16 Characters.
  • It must contain a number and  an uppercase letter.
  • It cannot contain your username or even the 1st (3) characters of your username.
  • It can contain symbols; but non-English symbols or spaces are not allowed (Ex: #, $, %, @, ! are good choices)

Once you have this information you can proceed to the Password Reset/Change Tool..
