Engineering & Science Summer Institute for Young Women
Would you like to spend some time this summer learning about the great careers available to you? You'll have the opportunity to work on engineering projects or science experiments in lab.
The Summer Institute is a one-week summer engineering camp program offered at our main campus in West Haven CT by the Tagliatela College of Engineering at the University of New Haven. This experience has been designed for students interested in enhancing their knowledge of engineering and science through hands on projects. Students will work together in teams with a UNH faculty or staff member.
A sample of activities includes:
• Chemistry• Forensics
• Polymers
• Robotics
• Biology
• Computer engineering
• Photo modeling
• Environmental science
• Shoe design challenge
• Puzzle cube design with Inventor™
• Science Fiction writing
You'll actually apply what you're learning in science and math class at school while working on a cool team project! You'll also get a taste of college life. In addition, you'll have the opportunity to find out about careers in engineering and science from your professors.
This program will be held through August 1st - 5th
Eligibility Requirements
The student must:
- Be a female entering 7th, 8th or 9th grade (Exceptions may be made for talented 6th graders and 10th graders looking for additional science/engineering experience)
- You should have an interest in technology, the sciences or engineering
- You should rank in the upper part of you class
Cost of Attendance
The day camp fee is $400.00
