UNH has a historical tradition of placing a higher value on a balanced ‘theory and practice’ approach to education. Continuing with its tradition, UNH is embarking on a new paradigm in the Experiential Education arena to promote greater levels of students learning across majors by augmenting the academic requirements with practice, real-life engagement, first-hand observation and learning through discovery.

UNH has joined a number of progressive institutions of higher education that require experiential education of all their graduates. We are taking a leadership role in this mission by supporting curriculum enhancement within all academic programs to ensure that curriculum-appropriate experiences are identified, incorporated in all programs and recorded on students’ transcripts.

In an effort to fully develop our efforts, we have partnered with the NSEE – National Society of Experiential Education -- and in 2006 became its Northeast Regional Partner http://www.nsee.org/. NSEE’s mission is to foster the effective use of experience as an integral part of education in order to empower learners and promote the common good. The organization is nationally recognized for taking leadership in developing and disseminating principles of good practice and innovations in experience-based learning. Our affiliation cements our commitment to our students and industry partners.
