Modern Language Minors

The Modern Language Program currently offers minors in Arabic Language-Area Studies, Chinese Language-Area Studies, Russian Language-Area Studies, and Spanish Language-Latin American Studies. These minors offer students an opportunity to attain a significant communicative proficiency in a language as well as a broad introduction to an area's cultural, literary, and sociopolitical spheres.

Foreign languages are increasingly valuable in all spheres of life and the professional world. Within the specific profile of UNH's student body, they are particularly useful for students in the field of Business, Criminal Justice, Dental Hygiene, Nutrition, and Psychology, among others. Furthermore, our advanced courses address literary and cultural dimensions that contribute to a broad a humanistic side along with the more pragmatic uses of languages.

In order to declare a minor, students must contact the coordinator of Modern Languages, Dr. Roberto Irizarry, at ririzarry@newhaven.edu or 203-479-8679. Also, students interested in completing a minor should contact the coordinator periodically so as to be aware of course offerings each semester.
