I welcome you on behalf of the faculty and staff at the Tagliatela College of Engineering (TCoE). We take pride in providing a well-balanced mix of hands-on education with a strong theoretical foundation to our students that allows graduates to function effectively and confidently in the workplace. Our graduates are highly sought after and known by employers to be work-ready. Our curricula in core engineering and applied science disciplines, combined with strong interdisciplinary coursework, internships in the field, extracurricular activities, and research opportunities, enable our graduates to be a step ahead of the competition in today's crowded job market.
TCoE is the only private engineering college in the state of Connecticut that offers six nationally accredited engineering and applied science programs (chemical, civil, computer, electrical and mechanical engineering, and computer science).
The proportion of students from outside Connecticut is on the rise, and in fall 2011, more than half of our incoming freshmen are out-of-state students. We also serve a significant number of international and multicultural students.
Our curricula expose students to real-world problem solving and decision making using state-of-the-art technology and integrated laboratory experiences. Students juggling work schedules and personal obligations can take advantage of evening classes. All of our classes are small in size and taught by highly qualified and experienced faculty.
In the 2011-12 academic year we plan to launch several new initiatives including a new summer study abroad program, programs to educate students about entrepreneurship and sustainability, and community-based service learning projects. In addition, we will increase research opportunities for students in engineering and applied science disciplines.
We will of course continue to maintain and improve the quality of our existing degree programs, and ensure their continued accreditation.
I will be happy to receive any feedback regarding our programs, activities and plans.
Sincerely,
Ronald S. Harichandran, Ph.D., P.E., F.ASCE
